Location

The Europlanet Science Congress 2020 will take place at the Palacio de Congresos y Exposiciones de Granada (PCGR), Granada, Spain, from 27 September to 2 October 2020.

The entrance is located at the corner facing the "Plaza Rotary" roundabout, between "Paseo del Violón" and "Prof. Tierno Galván" streets.

How to reach the PCGR

Granada is a comparatively small city, and all the distances can be covered by walking. In any case, the city counts with a complete system of public transport, including both bus and metro.

Bus stops near the PCGR are

  • Lines 4, 8, S2. Stop located at C/Prof. Tierno Galvan. Stop name: "Tierno Galván-Palacio de Congresos".
  • Line 21. Stop located at Paseo del Violón. Stop name: "Palacio de Congresos" or "Paseo del Violón", depending on the direction.

Ordinary bus ticket cost €1.40, to be paid directly to the bus driver. You may opt also for purchasing a transport card ("Credibus") pre-charged with €5, €10 or €20, reducing the ticket cost to €0.87, €0.85 and €0.83, respectively. "Credibus" is not nominal and can be bought at any bus, asking the driver, paying a deposit of €2, to be reimbursed if the transport card is returned in good condition.

All bus tickets include transfer between lines for a period of 60 min. Please consider using the route planner (see Rober or moovit) to reach the PCGR from your location by bus. The "moovit" application can be installed in your Android or iOS devices. Do not forget to select "Granada" as city and your desired language.

From the "Bus Station" to PCGR, there is no direct bus line and it is necessary to walk for some minutes in any option.

From the "Bus station",

  • Option 1: Walk to the "Avda Federico García Lorca". There, take line 21 direction "Parque Cruz de Lagos". Line number 21. Start: "Avda Federico García Lorca". End: "Violón-Palacio de Congresos".
  • Option 2:.In front of the “Bus station”, take line 33 direction “Avda Sierra Nevada”. Start: “Juan Pablo II-Estación de Autobuses”, End: “Paseo de los Basilios”. From there, the PCGR may be reached by walking.

How to reach Granada

You can reach Granada by road (A44 highway from Madrid, or A92 highway from Malaga), by train or by plane.

By plane flying directly to Granada

There are only few international destinations connecting directly with Granada airport (Manchester, Milano, and Bordeaux with EasyJet). Normally, in order to fly to Granada, it is necessary to perform a transfer either at Madrid-Barajas airport or at Barcelona-El Prat airport (both with 3 or 4 flights per day).

To reach Granada city from the airport, you may opt for

  • Car rental: At the airport terminal, it is possible to find Avis/Budget (http://www.avis.es, +34 958 44 64 55) and Ok Rent a Car (http://www.okrentacar.es, +34 902360636).
    Just outside the airport area, it is possible to find other car rental companies (Sixt, Europcar, Goldcar, etc.), some of them with shuttle bus service but it is necessary to check directly with the company.
  • Airport Bus: There is a bus linking the airport with the city, ending at the conference centre where the EPSC2020 will take place. The route is: Airport –Bus Station – La Caleta –Avda de la Constitutición – Gran vía – Puerta Real - Conference centre. Total travel time is approximately 45 minutes to the city centre. Buses leave the airport approximately 30 minutes after the arrival of each flight. Ticket price is €3. The company running the airport bus is ALSA.   • Taxi: Taxis may be found at the entrance to the airport terminal. The journey to the city costs between €25 and €35.

By plane flying to Malaga

Malaga is the closest international airport to Granada, located at approximately 125 km. You may travel from Malaga to Granada by bus or renting a car at the airport. There is a bus departing frequently and directly from Malaga airport that will take you to the Bus station in Granada in approximately 2 h and 15 min. The company running the service is ALSA. Price is between €12 and €14. Once at the Granada Bus Station you need to get the bus, metro or a taxi to reach your hotel or the conference venue.

Reaching Granada by train

Granada is connected with Madrid via a high-speed train (AVE). Journey takes about 3 hours and 20 minutes, and prices may vary. Please check information and timetables at http://www.renfe.com. Please note that train departs from MADRID-PUERTA DE ATOCHA train station, being necessary to go from the airport Madrid-Barajas to the train station by taxi or by metro.
